Ben Lowe takes 6 as the 4s beat Elworth.

The 4s made the relatively far journey to Elworth, near Sandbach, as they looked to continue their run at the top of the table. The last time the 4s played Elworth a now infamous Sam Sheratt almost pulled off the impossible.. (video on our YouTube channel)

With the toss won (again!) the 4s had a bowl. This was before the captain was aware that some confusion about our start time meant we were a player short, and would have to field well to fill the gap. Joe Ramsden and Alex Young opened the bowling. Both bowled with outstanding control and discipline, Joe finding carry and bounce out of a tired pitch, and Alex probing away at the off-stump. Joe was bowling with good pace, which resulted in him rushing a batsman who could only parry it to be first slip, only for it to be dropped (Sorry Joe..). Alex had just started to crank up his speed, and beat both edges several times before pain in his back meant he was sadly unable to continue. Dev Meena would replace Alex, and continued his magic, finishing his spell 7-3-6-3.. quite ridiculous. His ability to place the ball on a spot and move it either way has made it impossible for people to score off. Ben Lowe was the culprit who was late, an honest mistake, but made up for it immediately as he came on to bowl, taking two in two from his first two balls. This brought the man, the myth, the legend to the crease. Sam Sheratt. The coverage of Elworth's trip to Didsbury already famous at their club (Rab and Tom have a cult following, and I suggested Elworth should tune into the stream on 3s Finals Day...). Sam immediately went on the attack, launching Ben for 6. Poor Ben must have PTSD at this point. Jack Prince assigned himself the task of slaying the giant, and would achieve just that, as Sam top edged a sweep to Sunil Singh. Didsbury were overjoyed, perhaps no-one more than Ben, who used it to give him new energy as he charged in to pick up four more wickets to finish 6-24. (Well done Ben, your bowling has come on loads this year and you have bowled some quite fantastic spells all year and have been unlucky not to pick up wickets, so this was thoroughly deserved.) Elworth 91 all out.

The Dynamic Duo, Meena & Turner would come out the gate like the clappers, launching Elworths openers to the boundary as they looked to make short work of the chase. Another 50 partnership up before they both fell. Ringo and Jude Chilvers would see the side home, the latter making a great impression in his first game for the 4s, timing the ball brilliantly to the (LONG) boundary. 4s win by eight wickets.

Another fantastic performance led by Ben Lowe. Apart from my idiotic drop, we continue to take all our chances and ground field expertly to make us easily the best fielding team in the division. Well done all. This report was typed up at a rainy Northern CC as I am on tour with the U13s so apologies if I've missed any details or if there are any horrendous typos. The 4s play Ashley at home next week.
