3rd team deservedly win T20 cup.

Didsbury won the 2018 3rd XI T20 Jack Gardner Trophy with another superb team performance against Alderley Edge. The top two in the 3rd XI Premier League had both won their semi-finals convincingly, but it was Didsbury who carried that form into the final on a sunny but breezy afternoon. Although they stuttered initially, losing 3 wickets in the powerplay, a fine partnership of 82 off 60 balls between James Micklethwaite and Chris Elsden turned the situation decisively in Didsbury's favour. Elsden reached 50 off 37 balls as 102 runs came off the last 10 overs, with 22 wides helping Didsbury set Alderley Edge 9 an over to win. A bright start for Alderley was halted by a lightning-quick stumping and, next ball, a textbook yorker, and it was only George Bell's attractive strokeplay that kept faint Alderley hopes alive. However, a quite magnificent running one handed catch at long on by Elsden saw him depart, and thereafter the result was never in any doubt. Skipper Ryan Wilson later received the trophy from League chairman David Humpage in bright early evening sunshine as the 2018 tournament made up for last year's washed out final and concluded successfully.
