More honours for Didsbury teams

Congratulations first of all to our brilliant Didsbury Swordettes who won the Senior Knockout trophy at Upton on Sunday, beating Appleton Tigers by four runs – some achievement considering Appleton needed seven off 17 balls to win! Unfortunately the Swordettes then lost out in the Divisional Final, (played straight after the Senior K/O) losing out to Oakmere by just 8 runs, but still came home with a major trophy and heads held high. Hopefully there will be a more detailed account on here at some point.

p.s. for those that don’t already receive it, Womens Cricket League vice-chair Martin Saxon produces an excellent comprehensive newsletter, ‘The Dazzler’ which you can receive direct by emailing martinsaxon28@gmail.com

The 1s suffered an unfortunate double setback, washed out on Saturday whilst leaders Nantwich pulled off a remarkable win at Oxton (Nantwich going from 65-7 to 232-9 and going onto win by 143 runs); Dids then lost their game in hand at CBH on Sunday by 6 wkts, taking just 5 pts. This all means they are 18 pts adrift of Nantwich….who they play at Wilmslow Rd this coming Saturday.

2s and 2As were also both victims of the awful Saturday weather and didn’t play. On Sunday the 4s won at Bredbury while the 5s beat Stockport, staying top of the Central & East Sunday Div. The 3s, meantime, won the 3rd XI T20 competition for the third year in a row, beating Grappenhall in the final, played at Bramhall – a fuller report is elsewhere.
