The under 15s cup team have had a great run of results in the Vitality T20 knockout, after a shaky start in the first round against Friends Sporting at Didsbury, our team gelled and continued to impress with convincing away wins over Denton St Lawrence (round 2), Greenfield (round 3), Milnrow (round 4) and Clifton (round 5). Some great performances from all of the team during each of these rounds.
For the next stage of the Lancashire knockout we were away on Monday 5th, against Farnworth Social Circle. We won the toss and we chose to have a bat first, and it proved to be the right choice. With Alfie getting his first 50 for the club paired with a good knock from Jude (32), Alex (39) and LJ (23). All hitting some confident shots. Farnworth had a big job to do chasing 162. With OG and myself opening the bowling, we kept the runs down, the first wicket came from a runout from Xavi with some lovely fielding. 3 wickets for Harry Smith ensured an impressive win for Didsbury.
It was on to The Northern today with an early 9:30 start! We won the toss and decided we would bowl first this time. With two wickets in quick succession we were feeling confident and kept the opposition under 100, at 99/8, Arhum taking 3 wickets for us, OG, Xavi and Harri A each getting a wicket, and Dan bowling two good overs keeping it tight, LJ taking a couple of catches and stumpings as WK. On to the batting .... After a confident start from Harry Y and Alex, Alex was caught and bowled on 23, Harry caught on 17. As sometimes happens with cricket we then went through a few batting casualties including myself and it was all feeling very tense. But Jude and Harri A calmed the stress levels, both with very assured performances. Harri A hitting an impressive 19 not out off 12 balls and Jude getting a nice 15 not out off 20 balls helping secure our place in the final. An intense morning in the heat - but we won with 101/6 off 16 overs.
A brilliant team performance so far with everyone fighting their hearts out for the wins …. Now on to Clitheroe... wish us luck!

Jack: On a personal side note, its a been a pleasure to watch most of the U15s cup games. They have worked incredibly hard to get this far, and have been led brilliantly by Seb. It's great to see I have inspired yet another captain to begin doing match reports. Well done me. The U15s are waiting to hear where they are playing next, but fingers crossed it will be at Didsbury on the morning of the 18th June! Our 15s continue to be an integral part of both our Saturday and Sunday adult sides, are valuable contriibutors to our coaching teams for the younger age groups, and are outstanding young adults that volunteer their time for things like the BBQ, cricketforce etc. Best of luck to them, please join me in supporting them throughout the season, and hopefully I can catch many more of their cup games soon!
