We are very sorry to report that longstanding club stalwart John Speak passed away on Saturday after a short illness.
John has been a regular at DCC for more than 40 years and contributed hugely to our junior section in 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. As coach, manager, administrator and mentor he is responsible for the development of a very large number of cricketers who initiated their careers in the Didsbury area.
He was always available for a beer and a chat about sport and was never short of opinion, sometimes cantankerous, but always entertaining.
A minutes silence to recognise his impact and contribution was held ahead of last Saturday's 1st team match against Urmston CC.
John will be greatly missed around Didsbury CC.
