A hard fought and competitive game saw the Under 11's run out of steam towards the end of a enthralling run chase.
Bowling first, Didsbury soon realised they were up against a good side. The strong bowling attack tested Alderley on a true batting track. Despite squeezing out 2 or 3 wickets early in the innings the opposition's middle order batted well and pressured a few mistakes from an otherwise sound fielding display.
Chasing 114 to win was going to be a tough ask, particularly against a well balanced bowling line up. Dan batted beautifully before retiring for 25 and Raheem anchored the innings well for his 28. Unfortunately none of the other batsmen could get going long enough to support, with the side suffering 3 run outs to take the momentum out of the innings. Along with the 10-15 runs that could have been saved in the field meant that Didsbury slipped to their first defeat of the season.
This was an excellent cricket match played in a good spirit with some excellent individual displays on both teams. The Didsbury side need to transfer some of the all round team work in the bowling and fielding into the batting department to ensure everyone contributes.
