Didsbury turned up the heat on a scorching Sunday morning. The boys looked ready for business from the start and turned in a dominant display that saw them back to winning ways.
Electing to bat first, 3 of Didsbury's top 4 retired having reached 25. Raheem and Dan showed excellent batsmanship when initially struggling to time the ball switching focus to strike rotation with lots of well taken singles. As the ball started to find the middle of the bat, Dan stroked his customary run a ball 25 and Raheem accumulated another excellent openers knock, bringing Noah to the crease. He looked like a man on a mission and bashed 28 in no time, well supported by Jamie who stayed to the end seeing the team past the 100 mark and finishing with a tidy "not out".
The batting was then backed up with a fantastic performance in the field. SW Manchester were 4 down in the first 3 overs, helped by a triple wicket maiden from Raheem! The rest of the bowlers weighed in with accurate bowling, threatening to get wickets in each over. Harry M and Joab picked up a wicket a piece to close down any chance of middle order resistance. Uzmaan was extremely unlucky to not pick up a wicket with his first ball for the team, being no balled by a heat impaired umpire. He did extract turn from the wicket and showed variety in an otherwise seam heavy squad.
The fielding was excellent, exemplified by Oliver's tumbling catch late in the game and Harry B's run out - great concentration and skill in soaring temperatures. The team, looking eager and positive, should take encouragement from this performance going in to the next round of fixtures
