Bulls vs Whalley Range

It was a bad toss to lose on a freshly spritzed wicket and so the Bulls were put into bat. After Dan went cheaply Raheem joined Max and played the vital anchoring role he is becoming known for. Max departed for 15 to a similar shooter that saw for Dan and in came Harry Maxwell who blitzed 33 off 24 with 7 fours. Epic. Raheem retired hurt with 26 (off 45) and Finn, Jamie, Umer and Sulaiman all chipped in. 99-4 was a good total in these conditions.

In reply The Range lost their opener to a second ball snorter from Max (not for me thank you) but thereafter he and most of the bowlers struggled a little with line and length. 26 wides tells a tale. Wickets did continue to fall steadily but catches were dropped and whilst the fielding was much improved still needs some work; and so we let the opposition back into the game. Promising bowling debuts from Qasim and Taha (we will hear a lot more about these two over the season) and more craft and guile from Umer. Special mention to Finn Locke, only 1 bye in tough, tough conditions. Well done

In the gloom WR stuttered home finishing on 101-8, 30(!) of which were extras!

All the above said, I feel this is a strong squad who work hard and enjoy playing for each other and it is always great to see that.

There are several old adages in cricket, but none truer than catches win matches!
