Bulls vs Sale Eagles (The Sequel)

Last week the Bulls were thrashed by Sale Eagles in the Cup so this was a chance to avenge that defeat; unfortunately we fell just 4 runs short.

Sale won the toss and elected to bat but were immediately in trouble as the Bulls applied early pressure. Dan Ward bowling with controlled pace (3-1-8-2) took a wicket in his first and second over, Zain was accurate and awkward and Hana highly impressive finishing with figures of 3-0-12-2. The other bowlers supported well (special mention to Liam, drafted in from the U11's, who finished with 3-0-12-2!) and Sale only reached 99 with the help of at least 5 misfields which went to the boundary. When will we learn?!

A sign of the improved bowling and great keeping by Ben Renison was extras reduced to a season best of 12.

So far so good. Didsbury opened with Harry Morris and Will Wood but both perished early for a single each and memories of, well, last Friday were evoked. Dan played fluently for 12 before playing across the line to a straight one and Noah went for a duck. Surely not again. But then Ben Renison showed grit and technique to hit a quick fire 30 NO and assisted by Jamie and Liam we staged a major recovery. 20 were needed off the last 2 overs but a combination of extreme wayward bowling and some excellent hitting from Louis left us needing only 4 off the last 2 balls; sadly it wasn't to be.

Definitely one that slipped through our fingers both literally and metaphorically.
