Bulls v Lindow Gold

Rescheduled from the uncertain weathers of the previous Friday, the Bulls won the toss and opted to bat in the evening sunshine. Lindow didn’t have full numbers and took up the offer of a Didsbury man in the field – such is the spirit of the game and how the match was played in its entirety.

Greaves Power and Amin opened the batting with a smooth display of power and intelligent batting, thrilling the crowd and quickly giving the Bulls a strong platform for the rest of the innings. Amin retired with 33 off of 30 balls, a fine boundary marking his exit. Greaves Power retired minutes later, some nicely placed shots giving him a well deserved 30.
And so Perls and Kain took to the crease. Perls quickly notched up some useful runs before falling to some strong bowling. Lama and Lowe took to the field and left in quick succession. All the while Kain weathered the storm, steadying the ship and keeping it calm.
Rafiq took her place on the field and with great self possession and some elegant boundaries helped steer the Bulls home. Maitland replaced Kain, Veitch replaced Maitland and the Bulls set a thoroughly defendable score of 127/6
Throughout the innings, Chilvers, Veitch and Shah all lent valuable support to Lindow’s field.

After a quick turnaround, Greaves Power set the field and Lindow took to the crease. Their form was good, but Lowe took a lovely center stump to get things moving. This was followed by another wicket, sent into the air and neatly caught by Greaves Powers. Lama bowled their third man and the Bulls seemed to be on a roll!
However, Lindow dug their heels in with some nice batting and a profitable partnership. Support in the field was strong, bowling was tight, the keeping on top, but the batsmen weren’t budging! Perls was having none of it, enough was enough, and so finally Lindow’s opener was bowled! This was quickly followed by a lovely wicket from Amin that seemed to skim the bails off the stumps. Perls followed it up with 2 more wickets, the first giving Greaves Powers a beautifully taken close range catch that must have smarted!
It was into the nineteenth over, the light dimming and Lindow’s tail was definitely wagging! And so Shah stepped up, and with just 3 deliveries took the last wicket with a cunningly disguised delivery. 104 all out -such jubilation!
