Captain Charlie Ayling won the toss and elected to bowl, not because the wicket was green on top and he thought that there'd be something in it for the bowlers in the 1st innings, nor did he think it would flatten out in the 2nd innings and become a road to bat on, or even a thought for evening dew, making it hard for the fielders and bowlers in the 2nd innings,,,, no, he knew it would be blumming freezing later and didn't want his players to catch pneumonia.
The Sale batters struggled to get bat on ball in the first 3 or 4 overs due to the Buffalos bowlers consistent wides. They amassed a total of 161 in their 20 overs with the pick of our bowlers being Raheem Tarq, Thomas Williams and Saurav Kumar, who shared the 4 wickets taken with 2, 1, and 1 respectively.
Saurav got us off to a good start hitting a 4 and a 2 in the first over, but didn't last long after. After a mini collapse where Henry Harper, and Ayaz Sheikh didn't trouble the scorer, ( who was shivering in the corner ) and Raheem Tariq's little legs couldn't take him quick enough to the other end for 1, there was a steadying of the ship with some superb batting from Dan Ward, Thomas Williams and Finlay Locke, 15, 11 and 9 respectively. This got us up to an ok 67 and as the day turned to night the remaining batters fell to some good bowling and stumpings.
No fixture next week.
