Sunday 2 May 2021- U11 Tigers beat U11 Urmston CC by 7 Wickets

So finally after months of waiting the competitive cricket season began for the U11 Tigers. A blend of talented U11’s joined by the new, young, upstart U10’s looked up for the battle during an intense warm up at Urmston CC. Adam Siddique led the boys out bowling first under low cloudy skies. Tight opening bowling from Charlie, Calum, Adam and Albert restricted Urmston to 16 off the first 8 overs. Elliot then stepped up with the first wicket of the game a nice delivery caught by Charlie. The tight bowling continued restricting Urmston to a total of 87/5. The remaining wickets were taken by Isaac, Ibrahim, Dylan and Albert. The pick being Elliot’s catch off Ibrahim’s bowling. For all the world it looked like he had misjudged it before snaffling it up low and in front of him.

So a low total to chase for the Didsbury batters saw Charlie opening with James. James looked full of confidence facing the first delivery but unfortunately chipped it up for a simple catch. At 0/1 Kush came out to bat and 7 overs later he retired with figures of 25 off 21. Adam was in at 4 and the runs continued until Charlie was caught on 22, 3 short of his retirement (59/2). Credit to him as well as he took a tough blow to the inner thigh early on and was down for some time before recovering to bat on. Calum strode out at 5 but only faced 3 balls before being bowled in the 11th over (68/3) without troubling the scorer. Isaac followed but it was Adam who saw the game through with a flourish in the 13th over. He struck 3 4s off the first 3 balls of the over and finish the chase.

With 7 overs to go and 7 wickets in hand it was a comfortable win for the Tigers and a great start to the season. There is definitely more to come from these boys.

Special mention must go to Thomas Harou who did an excellent job wicket keeping in his first match and the highlight of the game for this spectator was Elliot’s catch.
